Experience

I am an experienced tutor who has worked with students of all different ages and backgrounds, and can give you references upon request. Most recently, I have tutored a student for the LSAT and tutored another student with her english verbal, reading and writing skills. It is most rewarding to me to see my students improving in the subject of our focus. I've taken various college level writing courses. I scored in the top 89% percentile on the LSAT and am attending law school on a full scholarship. In addition to my law courses, (contracts, torts, etc) I have taken a rigorous graduate level legal writing course. In addition, during my first year in law school I worked at a fast-paced medical practice editing medical dictations-letters transcribed by doctors-for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors as well as sentence rephrasing. During my second year in law school, I was elected as Executive Articles Editor of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review. I review articles for publication and either accept or reject articles based on quality of work and its scholarship. Towards the end of my second year, I hired by the in house legal counsel for State Farm, where I worked full time during the summer after my second year and part time during my third year. I wrote threshold motions for summary judgment in car accident personal injury cases, deposition summaries for claims, among other intern work. I Graduated towards the top of my law school class (required in order to keep my full scholarship). Thereafter, I began an associate position at a general liability defense firm in Hauppauge, where I analyzed medical records, reviewed depositions and wrote a variety of motions. I have recently left that position in order to pursue a more flexible career. Throughout my legal career I have continued tutoring. A student of mine recently achieved a perfect score on her ACTs! The feeling of satisfaction and pride in my students is why I continue doing this work.

Hobbies

My hobbies include reading, writing, running, swimming, pilates, kickboxing, and yoga. I am goal oriented and always striving to learn new things. Once I complete law school, I look forward to learning a new skill set, such as sewing or tailoring, or becoming a certified personal instructor. I also feel my best when I am using my time in a productive manner, such as waking up early to get a good workout in before beginning my day.
