I recently started my tutoring career and I currently work with a pair of fifth graders on mathematics and English. However, my career in media probably makes me best suited to working with older students in reading and writing. I worked for two years a reporter for a trade publication and for four years as a publicist. I also have been published as a freelancer. Working as a reporter and as a publicist have honed my ability to write clean, accurate copy on tight deadlines. I left media in October 2014 and sound found myself wanting to have an outlet for my creative side again, which is why I became a tutor.

Hobbies
I am a voracious reader, with a preference for authors who write simply and directly, such as Ernest Hemingway and George Orwell. My favorite books are For Whom the Bell Tolls, Animal Farm, 1984, The Catcher in the Rye, and A Confederacy of Dunces. Although I no longer work in media, I am a contributor to my employer's weekly podcast, which has given me script-writing and on-air talent experience. Other interests of mine include following my favorite professional hockey team, classic rock history, taking care of my two cats, trying different kinds of craft beer, and making my own hard cider.
